Solar by state

All 50 states and Washington, DC, each modeled with the same method. Every page pulls the state's residential electricity rate from EIA May 2026 data, runs PVGIS production models for real cities in that state, prices systems from EnergySage installed-cost data, and quotes the actual net-metering rule with a link to the statute or tariff. No page recycles another state's numbers.

The differences are bigger than most people expect. Statewide retail rates run from under 11 cents per kWh to over 40. Some states still pay full retail for exports, some pay avoided cost, and a few charge you a monthly fee for owning panels. Your state page spells out which one you are in. We are a solar installer and we also partner with other solar companies.

Not sure where to start? The savings calculator works for any state, and the methodology page explains every formula behind these numbers.
